Come on a fly fishing adventure with your host Thomas Porter from June 21 - 25. SelwynLake lodge and your host Mr. Porter will be putting on a 4 day fly fishing adventure in the northern wilderness of Saskatchewan. Thomas is a renowned fly fishing instructor, field editor for “Fly Fisher” magazine, the past president of Northern Waters Fly Fishing Association and a professional photographer. He will be giving each guest hands on training, teaching daily educational seminars, creating fun and exciting contests that will test your rapidly developing skills in the art of fly fishing. Not only will you be taught how to become better fly fishermen, but you will learn how fish, think, act and live to better increase your chance in capturing that trophy on the fly.
The setting will be at Selwyn Lake Lodge, which is a 5 star property that is located just under the 60th parallel offering some of North America’s best trophy fishing. This pristine lake only receives a small amount of guests each year making it an extremely exclusive destination for the avid outdoors enthusiast. Each day of this fantastic adventure will start off with a hearty breakfast cooked to order from our mouth watering menu. After you have had your fill, you will receive a one hour hands-on demonstration from Mr. Porter, down on the shore line, giving tips and working to achieve that perfect technique for each individual. Once everyone has received their tips for the day, your professional guide will take you out to those secret fishing holes to put your new skills to test, and don’t worry because each guide is very knowledgeable in fly fishing. As well Thomas will spend one day with each group out on the water shadowing them to make sure they are succeeding in their new training, and he never goes far with out his camera…..imagine catching that 50” Northern Pike on the fly and having a professional photographer there to take your picture…..wow! By mid day your guide will take you to one of the many scenic lunch spots and prepare you an amazing shore lunch that will vary each day.
Your return to the lodge will be met with fresh hors d’oeuvres and cocktails until supper, which will be prepared by our professional chef. After supper and dessert is done, Mr. Porter will dive into seminars dealing with structure, habitat, equipment, presentation and fly selection. As well he will be demonstrating how to fly tie, enabling you can take out your costumed creation and put it to the test on the water whether you are going for a monster pike, huge trout or acrobatic grayling.
The last day will be filled with lots of challenges, contests, and rivalry. Putting all your new skills to the test that will be awarded with prizes from the lodge and Mr. Porter himself (one prize might be a collection of Thomas’s hand-made fly's, which would be more art, then lures).
